Research Center
The Braintec Research Center is situated in Portland, Oregon.
Founded by Prof. J.J. Hamilton in the early 1990s, Braintec moved
its laboratory and offices to downtown Portland in 1999. The
building was originally built for the Kroehner Services
International, who put it on sale five years ago. With a grant from
the National Institute of Mental Health, Prof. J.J. Hamilton was
able to buy the facility. Only a few renovations were necessary and
within fourteen months the building was ready to be used.
It took another six months before we could
welcome our first test subjects. The delivery of the M.R.I. scan was
delayed and we had still no permission to perform the tests. When we
finally started working with the implants, the results were almost
overwhelming. Soon, memory research became inextricably linked to
Braintec.
Our facility is an elegant and peaceful
environment. We offer a safe, convenient, well-maintained
residential community, within over 80,000 sq. ft. of laboratory and
office space. Our Research Center consists of two major departments,
the left wing and the right wing, located on 12 acres. The
laboratories are equipped with large facilities for MEME-analysis,
extractions, uploads and surgical implantation. Procedures can be
performed in these laboratories or at a private, accredited surgery
center. We use the state-of-the-art in surgical instruments, storage
devices, and patient monitoring equipment.
The
Research Center provides a dormitory to fifty test subjects, who
mostly share a room. To make the stay of these test subjects a
pleasant one, we have organized several recreation rooms, some
coffee corners and a small fitness hall. An outdoor swimming pool is
being planned.
We have a lot to offer to our test subjects
besides a good time at our facility. Most of the test subjects find
experiencing memories surprisingly pleasant. Test subjects will
enjoy a free trip to Portland, no matter what their home country is.
Our remunerations are as large as the law permits. For example:
being a test subject for 28 days makes $5240 excluding travel
expenses.

As a test subject for Braintec you can take part
in mind-broadening and revealing discoveries. Besides that, you will
meet the most interesting people. For example: Adrian Young, one of
our scientists, discovered that gradients in the magnetic field of
our brain scans can create two-dimensional images of MEMES that
could not be visualized by other techniques. He discovered how the
detected signals could be analyzed and transformed rapidly and
effectively to an image. This was an essential step in order to make
memories visible.
Another example: In 2002 Braintec's cofounder
Prof. Kodjiro Tachikawa was nominated for the Nobel Prize in
Physiology or Medicine, for his crucial achievements in the
development of the Braintec implants. This invention was of huge
importance to medicine. These developments provided the basis for
the storage of human thought.
To
protect us from being disturbed by curious visitors too often, it is
only possible to visit the Braintec Research Center on invitation.
If you are interested in a guided tour, you can write us the reason
why you’re interested. You might probably receive an invitation from
us. If you have one:
